Almost a year and a half ago, I felt honored writing about the validity and beauty of NM as a profession in the form of 3 articles:-
Though someone who actually made me believe in the validity of this profession was Eric Worre through my "Go Pro Academy" membership and another bunch of people working with an Indian company called M-Care. I gave almost a year and a half of my life to this profession and overall it was quite an eye-opening experience.
The purpose of my article is not to vent out my frustration of my failure in the profession nor I'm doing it from a disgruntled mindset in order to discourage NM-professionals to work in this area. I'm only articulating my experiences and observations about the profession and request the readers to be non-judgmental while reading, and be absolutely decisive after finished reading as this article isn't a personal satire for M-Care or Eric Worre but these two will be my points of reference all the time as they are the primary source of my exposure to the profession.
I observed a VIRTUAL pyramid in M-Care
I'll talk in terms of my upline and their monthly incomes and reach the top.
- My maximum monthly income from M-Care was 6000/- majority of which was taken away by my upline.
- My Upline Mr. J Singh has max monthly income of 1 lakh INR.
- Mr. J Singh's Upline Dr. S has a maximum monthly income of 3 lakh INR
- Dr. S's Upline Mr. M Ch has a maximum monthly income of 6 lakh INR
- Mr. M Ch's Upline Dr. S Bh has a huge monthly income of around 60 lakh INR
- Dr. S Bh's Upline Mr. SAM's monthly income is completely UNKNOWN to the world.
Mr. SAM doesn't have an upline as he's the BIG boss of M-Care and completely owns this company worth almost INR 1000 crore (US$ 139 million) and it doesn't end there because besides M-Care, he has an empire worth INR 63000 crore (US$ 9.2 Billion). Hence, it looks like a system controlled and manipulated by an Indian billionaire whereby the exponential growth a any individual is ultimately at his discretion.
Absolute duplication impossible
This isn't M-Care-specific but a general concept for all the NM companies. Whatever the up-line does to expand it's business be it home meetings, seminars, event organization, it expects down-line to adopt it quickly and practice it the way up-line does. But in reality, people have their own individuality and their own ways of thinking and somehow their creativity is snubbed to make them more stereotypical like the up-line and become like a monotonous radio set playing the same old song time and again.
Moreover, in case of M-Care, it is impossible for any GBD (Top title holders) to duplicate the ways of Mr. SAM as all the GBD's are by default the down-line of Mr. SAM (by virtue of his inheritance) and the GBD's will have to stay at his down-line for the entire life and then die and take another rebirth in some family of economic elites like Birla, Tata, Ambani or Adani so that they can finally reach the level of Mr. SAM also by virtue of inheritance.
Residual income projected as stable monthly income
Income in any NM company is directly proportional to the business volume (BV) generated by any professional. If BV rises income rises, if BV falls income falls. Hence, income generated in this profession is completely unpredictable, unstable and the residue of BV generated. It can easily get down to zero if the BV is also zero.
Income from other sources projected as income from the company
NM profession makes a person thick-skinned and over-ambitious due to continuous rejection and humiliation. Hence, in order to project one's success in the profession, people have the tendency to misguide the prospects about the source of their incomes e.g. I came across a case where the spouse of a Class 1 officer projected her success by flaunting a vehicle earned exclusively from Modicare income without telling the truth about the contribution of the other spouse.
Concealed identities and superficial talks
This is a profession whereby people have the habit of projecting themselves as more qualified and intellectual than they actually are. A couple of funny instances in M-Care happened in my cross-leg whereby Mr. J S calling himself a proclaimed surgeon turned out to be the assistant of some other proclaimed surgeon and in reality J S doesn't even have an MBBS degree. Another quickly growing leader in M-Care compares himself to the super-intellectual and super-sophisticated class of Indian Administrative Services by creating a team with the same initials.
Existence depends completely on performance
Most of the NM professionals lie to the nascent prospects about the easiness of the profession and a cakewalk towards success and glory. Though entry and exit is completely unrestricted but the amount of fortune you make in this profession is to perform, perform and perform. The only way to perform in NM is finding different ways to reach out to new people and get rejected and humiliated by 90% and then take 10% of fake-believers along with in order to completely shatter their self-belief in the long run.
Hidden expenses besides narrow range of expensive products
This is where I may have to completely disagree with Mr. Eric Worre, the products are definitely over-priced and only those who have established networks enjoy it for free. Moreover, the product range and variety is limited. Continuous use of the same product though of a high quality makes life completely hackneyed.
Also, home meetings, seminars and celebratory events come at a cost borne by the up-line. A huge portion of the company payouts goes in spending on celebration events ultimately making the working professional feel like a money-less monkey dancing on the tunes the company and yelling "My company" "My company" or "M-care" "M-care" amidst a mad-house full of people doing the same bullsh*t thing.
My personal expenditure or Income from M-Care yet
No idea but the expenses far exceed the income hence discontinuing it. But ask a successful NM professional he'd also say "No idea about my real income or expenditure but continuing to do it because I don't know what else to do ?"
M-Care restricted to India
I think I'd like to work with some other company in the long run which has a wider scope and doesn't feel like a mad-house. I've quit M-care not because I'm not a prod Indian, it's because I think I can perform better at the multi-national level because speaking "English" is more or less a sin in M-care.
Final Conclusion
I think if someone in the world makes me believe about some positivity in NM profession is Eric Worre and unfortunately nobody from M-Care be it Dr. XYZ, M Ch, Dr. S Bh or the big daddy Mr. SAM. My purpose of writing this article is not to disgrace the profession nor to discourage NM professionals, my purpose is only to promote and stand by critical thinking and if any NM professional in the world thinks that critical thinking is wrong he/ she is an a**hole. But if any NM professional thinks and believes in their profession to be beautiful and profitable, I'd welcome a counter-article form such professional who gets in a position to fully understand and give a written reply to my article.
On a serious note NM profession needs to be made more organized and lesser hackneyed to ensure its grown and survival because word-of-mouth may have existed since time immemorial but money-driven word-of-mouth advertising gives you more rejection and humiliation and much lesser money.
